NFL Hall of Fame, and the million dollar contracts bestowed
upon Mr. Vick from the NFL are all flushed down the drain due
to the "pleasure" of watching dogs kill each other. I
certainly hope it was worth it. I have read the stories:
dogs that maul each other and are left ravaged, crippled,
and/or dead. Death being fortunate for the dog, as losing
dogs were quickly exterminated by electrocution. "Rape
sticks" were used to get the dogs to reproduce, as the dogs
were too vicious to reproduce without violence - therefore
a "rape stick" would keep the female bound and defenseless.
All horrific stories, but a comment today by the New York
Knicks' Stephon Marbory has me seeing things in another light.
Today Stephon Marbory stated that he doesn't understand why
Vick is getting all this heat, when it is fine and good for
people to go around shooting deer. Now I think this is a
weak point, when we look at the torture involved in
dogfighting. However, I can't help but ponder what is
socially acceptable in society.
Why isn't KFC put in the spotlight as well? How much torture
is enough to justify 12-18 months behind bars?? KFC has not been
successful in hiding the various inhumanities it commits on
chickens in hugely massive quantities. Their chickens have their
beaks cut off at 10-months old, they are forced to live their
lives in growth-stuntingly tight spaces, and they are scalded
alive. Does this equal the torture suffered by Vick's canines?
Can any meat-eating citizen protest this cruelty with a
straight face?
It all becomes quite clear - the US government doesn't
give a shite about animal torture, and nor does the NFL.
The government only cares about one thing - the non-taxable
income that the dog-fighting patrons are making in the
gambling. The government is not making any money off this
sport...therefore it is wrong. The picture that the media
is painting - of the monster Michael Vick is, is just a
thin veneer of hypocrisy that people are eating up just
as they eat their steroid-pumped cholesterol beef every
day.
Yes, Michael is a moster, and he deserves to have his
endorsements and contracts stripped away, and to serve
time. But before society uses him as the poster-boy for
animal cruelty we need to re-think our entire diet and
the ways in which our animals end up on our plates.
While you ponder this, go play the Super
Chick Sisters game on the Kentucy Fried Cruelty site,
and save Pamela! I saved her!

Literature is enlightening...philosophy is cool if you don't take it all too seriously. I'm not Spanish - I just took the name from the club
in the movie Mulholland Drive.
Thanks for the post.
